Around 400 eighth grade students from Central and West middle schools in Muscatine will be visiting MCC on Tuesday, April 14, from 9:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
MCC Admissions Officer Ben Huntington helped arrange the visit and will be one of the tour guides for the middle school students. “As part of the day, students will tour campus and participate in break-out workshops that cover everything from getting involved outside of the classroom, career options, and success skills training. They will also participate in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) hands on activities,” Huntington said.
The format for this event is relatively new. According to Huntington, this is the second year MCC has run the visit this way.
“MCC and the Muscatine Community School District have a very strong partnership and believe that early exposure to college and career options plays a significant role helping students take a more focused and intentional path in transitioning from middle school to high school,” Huntington said.
